Great success: 1.000 Euro donations within 4 weeks

By Admin , Tuesday, 17 Oct 2017

We are very pleased to support „St. Augustine Education Center“ in Ruiru (Kenya), with their latest collection of donations to build a new school. Just within 4 weeks socially engaged parents of kids from the German School Nairobi (Kenya), the "Lutherschule" in Hannover (Germany), the "Königin-Katharinenstift Gymnasium" in Stuttgart (Germany), the "Kreuzgymnasium" in Dresden (Germany), the Lions Club in Cologne (Germany) and many private donors have collected 1.000 Euro. Representatives of the German School Nairobi, namely Sybille Seite (Headmaster), Anja Schupp (Head of Adminstrations) and Michael Loose (Head of Finance) have been honored to provide the big symbolic donation cheque to Judy Nyambura and Simon Chege, both directors of St. Augustine Education Center. We all are very grateful to the generous donators and we hope that many others will follow soon. By the end of November 2017 all the kids and their teachers have to leave the current school building. But as 30.000 Euro are still needed to finalise the new property, more help is badly needed. St. Augustine Education Center is providing education to many vulnerable children in the slums of Kihunguro and Gitambaya 40 km outside of Nairobi, in a holistic and loving way as well as in a sustainable manner. Since the lease for the land on which the school was built will end in 2017 and cannot be prolonged, the school bought a new piece of land and started the construction of the new school in 2016. Due to very limited financial resources the construction progress was slow and many works had been done by the teachers, parents and children. Today two floors are completely finished and only the last floor is missing to complete the new school building. But time is running and the school urgently needs some additional funds in order to complete the school by the end of the year and to continue offering a place for children where they can learn, share and grow morally and intellectually.
