www.tuares.org Our current focus is on Burkina Faso, a landlocked country in West Africa and one of the poorest in the world. Burkina Faso has approximately 20 million inhabitants and a per capita GDP of $620. It is ranked 185th out of 188 countries according to the United Nations Development Program’s human development indicators. As in many African countries, the access to education continues to be a key challenge in Burkina Faso. Neither girls nor boys fare well with regards to youth education, but girls are doing worse. We are convinced that educating girls is the single most effective strategy to ensure the well being of families and the long-term success of developing countries. TuaRes strives to unleash this potential by facilitating access and quality in schools and by adopting targeted measures that increase the graduation rate of the most vulnerable ones. It is our goal to provide girls coming from low-income families, orphans and victims of abuse with adequate means to be able to graduate from school with good marks.

Interests

TuaRes promotes girl education in West Africa. The Value of Girl Education: Giving girls access to quality education creates a positive dynamic that has the power of changing a girl’s future, and the future of her children and grandchildren. It can break the vicious cycle trapping girls in a voiceless and powerless life. TuaRes is convinced that skilled young women have better control over their own lives and over those of their families.
