On the website participaid.com and its sub-domains ("Site"), Participaid GmbH ("Participaid") provides a platform for people sharing the aim of 'doing good' together. In connection with the use of the Site, as presented below we collect and process data, which may in individual cases involve personal data. Protecting your data is of great importance to us. In addition to the following provisions, the statutory data protection provisions of the Federal Republic of Germany apply, in particular those of the Federal Data Protection Act [Bundesdatenschutzgesetz – BDSG] (hereinafter referred to as "BDSG").

By accepting our Privacy Policy and the terms of service in the course of the registration and log-on process of the Site, you consent to our collecting, storing and disclosing of your personal data to third parties as follows:

Use of personal data

Data collected by Participaid in connection with the use of the Site may involve personal data within the meaning of German privacy law. We use your personal data if and to the extent this is required for using the Site. The following sections provide further information.

Registration and data collection

When you register yourself as a user of the Site, the following data will be collected which may qualify as personal data:

  • Titel,

  • Name,

  • Address,

  • Nationality,

  • Email address,

  • Telephone number,

  • Day of birth,

  • etc.

Disclosure to third parties / Safe Harbor Program

We disclose the data collected to third parties only to the extent that we are legally obliged to do so or such disclosure is necessary in order that the services be provided via the Site as intended. Personal data is disclosed within the scope of this necessity principle in particular in the following cases:

  • If required by law or another legal provision, court order or regulatory order

  • If necessary for criminal investigation or prosecution

  • To the extent required in connection with a change in control over Participaid, be it due to a takeover, insolvency, or for another reason, and also to prepare and implement the change in control

The scope of Participaid's activity in the context of the Site is not limited to Germany. Accordingly, personal data may also be transferred to countries outside the European Union, in particular in the USA. These non-EU/EEA countries can in individual cases have a lower level of data protection than Germany. Personal data are thus disclosed by Participaid in the USA only to affiliated companies of Participaid within the meaning of Sec. 15 of the German Stock Corporation Act [Aktiengesetz – AktG] and subject to the following conditions:

Data is disclosed only in connection with the administration of the IT systems of the Site and only if the receiving party guarantees an appropriate level of data protection for the disclosure of personal data in non-EU/EEA countries. To meet these requirements, Participaid will disclose personal data in the USA only if the party receiving the data complies with the data protection provisions of the Safe Harbor Program (www.export.gov/safeharbor), which aims to ensure assimilation with the German level of data protection.

Security and third-party pages

In order to adequately protect against unauthorized access to and/or the unauthorized disclosure of your data, we implement a number of protective technical measures such as firewalls, access restrictions, and SSL encryption systems. However, we point out that it is not possible to provide watertight protection against third-party access. In particular, we have no influence on the data protection provisions and compliance therewith by third-party websites to which Participaid or a Participaid user has linked on the Site.

Deletion of data / information about stored data

Personal data is deleted without delay as soon as there is no legal requirement for further storage or processing provided that Participaid is not obliged by law to still maintain the data.

You may also contact us with questions about your personal data by writing to support@participaid.com. In particular, you can request to see your personal data and have these amended or deleted by Participaid.

Changes to the privacy policy

As Participaid's area of business is a very dynamic one, we need to be able to make revisions to our terms of service and this privacy policy. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy without limitation at any time, in particular in order to adapt it in line with legal or technical changes or changes to Participaid's business model. Updates become effective 30 days after they are published on our Site. We therefore ask you to regularly take a look at the current version available on our Site.
